FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: internal combustion engine is proposed. It contains a port injector, which injects fuel into an inlet port, and a direct injector which injects fuel directly into the combustion chamber. When the internal combustion chamber is under low load and at the same time in need of fuel injection, a controller stops injecting fuel through the port injector so that all the required volume of injected fuel is injected through the direct injector.
EFFECT: decreasing fuel pressure in the direct injector in an efficient way under low load until the fuel injection is stopped.
