FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in control systems for internal combustion engines. A method is proposed for controlling an engine (1) of a vehicle with controlled ignition and indirect injection, containing: a) the stage of determining the position of the accelerator pedal (30), then in case of complete release of the pedal, b) the stage of partially closing the intake valve (24) installed in intake manifold and controlling the injectors, then, when the injectors (64) stop injecting fuel, c) the step of determining the residual fuel flow rate entering the combustion chamber, and d) the step of controlling said intake valve depending on the residual fuel flow rate so that the specified degree of enrichment (λ) remains close to 1.
EFFECT: invention allows to reduce the toxicity of an internal combustion engine.
