FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the shell processing method suitable for the nuclear waste treatment for carrying out nuclear reactions containing calcined material consisting wholly or partly of calcined calcium hydride. The proposed method comprises a calcined contact material phase with the reagent mixture, in molar fractions consisting of 0.5-5% of steam, 5-25% of carbon dioxide and 74.5-94.5% of chemically inert gas, while the contact is provided at the temperature of 40-55°C for a time, which will allow the calcined calcium hydride to be transformed into calcium carbonate powder.
EFFECT: new efficient method is proposed to produce a chemically inert waste, which minimizes the waste amount in the nuclear waste treatment streams.
