METHOD FOR DETERMINATION OF MASSETER MUSCLES PARAFUNCTION SEVERITY Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC A61B5/00

Abstract RU 2623330 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: two stages of diagnosis of the masseter muscles functional state are carried out. At the first stage, the patient determines the severity of individual symptoms or disease manifestations: pain in the masseter muscles, namely the number of areas with pain and the intensity of pain; increased tonus of the masseter muscles, namely the number of areas with increased tonus and the time of day when an increased tonus is observed; masseter muscles, namely the number of areas where muscle fatigue is observed; severity of difficulty in eating and anxiety for the disease outcome. At the second stage, the doctor determines the following: the number of masseter muscles with increased and decreased tonus, the number of muscles with working asynchrony, and also measures the amplitude of mouth opening in mm. Next, the functional state of the masseter muscles is scored according to Table 1 contained in the description. The total score is derived. The severity of masseter muscles parafunction is determined by number of points: 11 points - no symptoms of masseter muscles parafunction; 12-40 points - light masseter muscles parafunction; 41-70 points - average masseter muscles parafunction; 71-99 points - severe masseter muscles parafunction.

EFFECT: method allows for accurate diagnosis of masseter muscles parafunction by evaluating the most significant symptoms and manifestations of the disease.
