SUBSTANCE: method of band workpiece heating includes the winding of the band workpiece into the reel block, heating of the band workpiece on the reel block in the furnace up to the predetermined rolling temperature Tpr=870÷950°C, holding of the band workpiece on the reel block in the furnace for the temperature equalization along its entire length and winding of the heated band workpiece from the reel block for the rolling. The band workpiece is wound layer-by-layer with tension on the reel block in the furnace, preheated up to the temperature Trb, exceeding Tpr 100÷150°C, the working cylindrical surface of the reel block, while changing the layer-by-layer winding speed Vwin of the band workpiece on the reel block, which is found according to the proposed formula.
EFFECT: increase of the speed and uniformity of the band workpiece heating, while reducing the total energy costs for its heating and rolling.
