SUBSTANCE: on the basis of the obtained experimental materials, the spatial field of earthquake epicentres is divided into relatively homogeneous areas. They break each section into a platform (scaling). The function of the dependence of the number of sites with earthquakes on the linear size of sites is constructed in double logarithmic coordinates. The function is approximated by a straight line. The correlation coefficient of the linear approximation of functions is determined. The range of sizes of sites on which the linear approximation of the function has the maximum value of the correlation coefficient, is chosen. The self-similarity index of the earthquake epicentre field is found from the slope of the linear approximation of the function in the specified range of site sizes.
EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of determining the self-similarity of the earthquake epicentre field with limited data samples.
