SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of seismology and can be used to determine earthquake chains in an epicentral field of seismicity. Based on the experimental data, the seismic stations separated on the surface are plotting the epicenters of earthquakes in the study area. Choose relatively homogeneous areas of the earthquake epicenter field. Build a map of earthquake epicenters of the selected area in the form of a circle. Create a vector diagram of the azimuths of the epicenters of time-series earthquakes. According to the vector diagram in a given angular sector, the number of epicenters of earthquakes n directed to one side, sequential in time, is determined. For n≥3, consider this sequence as a chain of earthquakes in the epicentral field of seismicity.
