FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: surgical system for cataract removal contains a laser source designed to create the first group of laser pulses; a guide optic coupled to the laser source configured to direct the first group of laser pulses to the target cataract area of the eye; a laser controller; an Optical Coherence Tomography Spectral Area (OCT SA) imaging system configured to create an image comprising portions of the first photo-eradable region with image resolution in the range of 0.5 to 5 million pixels per image and transmission rate in the range of 20 to 200 frames per second; and an OCT image processor configured to perform image analysis. The laser controller is configured to generate an electronic image of the target scanning pattern and an electronic image of the changed scanning pattern in accordance with image analysis performed by the OCT image processor; and to control the guide optic for scanning by the first group of laser pulses in accordance with the scanning pattern portion to create the first photo-degradable region in the target cataract region and control the guide optic for scanning by the second group of laser pulses in accordance with a modified scan pattern to create the second photo-degradable region.
EFFECT: extended range of technical means.
