FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an electrochemical sensor for monitoring air for content of volatile organic toxic substances, consisting of a planar electrode group, a background electrolyte, a porous hydrophilic membrane, a polymer gas permeable membrane, and a sealed container. The hermetically sealed container is filled with a background electrolyte, a porous hydrophilic membrane is superimposed on the planar electrode group, the free end of the porous hydrophilic membrane is immersed in the sealed container with a background electrolyte, a polymeric gas permeable membrane separating the background electrolyte from the surrounding air is installed over the porous hydrophilic membrane, the planar electrode group consists of a measuring electrode, an auxiliary electrode and a reference electrode, located in the same plane on polypropylene film, the background electrolyte is obtained by dissolving one or more transition metal salts in an aqueous solution 0.1 M KCl with a concentration of 1÷5×10-5 M, transition metals salts consist of the following transition metals: Sn, Co, Cr, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb, Au, Ag, Ga, Hg, the porous hydrophilic membrane is produced from fine-fibred material with thickness of not more than 100 micron, cellulose membrane is used as the porous hydrophilic membrane.

EFFECT: increased working time, total determination of toxic substances of various classes, expansed nomenclature of the determined substances.
