FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: additive composition for control and inhibition of polymerization of aromatic vinyl monomers comprising styrene is described, which comprises: (a) one or more quinone-methide derivatives; and characterized in the fact that the composition further comprises: (b) one or more tertiary amines. The mentioned tertiary amine is selected from the group comprising: (i) triisopropanolamine (TIPA), (ii) N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylene-diamine(THEED) and (iii) a mixture thereof. A method for obtaining the above mentioend composition by mixing one or more of the above mentioned quinone-methide derivatives and one or more of the above mentioned tertiary amine derivatives is also described. An application of the above mentioned composition for controlling and inhibiting the polymerization of aromatic vinyl monomers is described. A method for controlling and inhibiting the polymerization of aromatic vinyl monomers by adding the above mentioned composition is described.
EFFECT: controlling and inhibiting the polymerization of the monomer at substantially low doses of the additive composition.
