FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: portable device comprises the first light source comprising a two-dimensional array of lasers having an opening angle θp between about 5 and about 45 degrees, an optical device having a focal length of few millimetres to project a two-dimensional multi-line backlight pattern onto a portion of the target surface. The backlight pattern is distorted by the depth profile of the target object surface, the image capturing device is oriented at an angle θd between about 25 and about 45 degrees relative to the first light source. Angle θd depends on the depth range and the surface area of the target object, a processor configured to process the captured image to reconstruct the depth profile of the two-dimensional surface portion of the target object from the image captured by the image capturing device and means for determination of the distance between the device and the target object surface. A two-dimensional matrix contains many lines. At least one line is offset laterally relative to the adjacent line. The method for surface depth profiling is implemented by means of a device using a computer-readable data carrier.
EFFECT: expansion of the arsenal of means for surface depth profiling.
