FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: to determining methanol in water by gas-liquid chromatography, a gas chromatograph with a flame ionization detector is prepared for use. For a better separation of components, a packed column with a nonpolar polydimethylsiloxane stationary liquid phase in the carrier gas stream at 35°C - 40°C is used. The system is calibrated within the methanol concentration range of 0.05 mg/dm3 to 50 mg/dm3, observing the time interval between analyses. Water samples are taken in accordance with GOST 51592, and then the methanol content is analyzed and calculated according to the calibration curve.

EFFECT: increased sensitivity of methanol determination in a water sample, expanded range of methanol measurement in water.
