SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of encapsulating the synchronized multimedia data, for example, according to the basic format of MPEG multimedia files. Method for forming a multimedia file comprising a multimedia data area and a metadata area, wherein the multimedia data comprises a plurality of samples, each sample comprising one or more spatial tiles, and forming a media file, in which a plurality of network abstraction level (NAL) units based on the received multimedia data are described in the multimedia data area and information on tile fragments, which indicates the information relating to one or more spatial mosaic fragments corresponding to the plurality of NAL units described in the multimedia data area, is described in the metadata area.
EFFECT: technical result is the provision of data organization and description of tracks for spatial mosaic fragments, which ensures that whatever combination of tracks is selected by the client application, that the result of the syntax ISO BMFF analysis always results in an allowable elementary video stream for the video decoder.
