SUBSTANCE: invention is a method of producing rimantadine hydrochloride, according to which the technical rimantadine and water are mixed, heated to a temperature of 80±5°C stirring until completely dissolved, 40% of sodium hydroxide solution is then added, cooled to a temperature of 18±5°C and maintained without stirring, the layers are divided, the lower layer is drained, the upper layer is vacuum-distilled, the resulting rimantadine base is dissolved in isopropyl alcohol at a temperature of 30±5°C until completely dissolved, through a different filter, the solution is transferred to a crystalliser, and rimantadine hydrochloride is isolated by 30 vol % of isopropyl alcohol saturated with hydrogen chloride, then cooled to 0±5°C and kept with stirring to crystallise the rimantadine hydrochloride, filtered, washed, and dried for 4 hours at 45±10°C, then at a temperature of 70±10°C up to the loss in the mass when dried, less than 0.5%.

EFFECT: invention provides a novel method of producing rimantadine hydrochloride.
