FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic chemistry and specifically to a method of producing drotaverine hydrochloride, which includes condensing pyrocatechol with diethyl sulphate in an alkaline medium with further distillation of the obtained o-diethoxybenzene with jet steam [or using commercial grade o-diethoxybenzene as the raw material for synthesis of drotaverine hydrochloride]; obtaining diethoxy nitrile via chloromethylation of o-diethoxybenzene with hydrogen chloride and paraform in a medium of trichloroethylene; cyanation of the obtained diethoxybenzyl chloride; obtaining diethoxyphenylacetic acid and diethoxyamine from diethoxy nitrile; condensing the diethoxyphenylacetic acid and diethoxyamine (obtaining ethoxyamide); cyclisation of the ethoxyamine with phosphorus oxychloride, dehydrogenating the obtained semi-product; and recystallising the product - obtaining pharmacopoeial drotaverine hydrochloride.

EFFECT: novel method of producing drotaverine hydrochloride, characterised by use of cheaper equipment and low time costs.
