SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of organic chemistry, namely to a process for the preparation of sulfonamide (streptocide), which is intended for use in the pharmaceutical industry. Method of production of sulfonamide (streptocide) is carried out as follows: an aqueous solution of isopropyl alcohol with a percentage content of 75-95% and technical sulfanilamide is loaded into the reactor, then the reaction mass is heated to a temperature of 75±10°C, is aged and mixed for 10-30 minutes, then the reaction mass moves through the other filter into the crystallizer, where it is cooled to a temperature of 15±5°C, then moved to a centrifuge, wrung out, dried at a temperature of 105±15°C to a moisture content of not more than 0.5%.

EFFECT: implementation of the invention makes it possible to obtain a compendial grade streptocide.
