SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an oral care composition and a method of using it. Inventive oral care composition comprises zinc oxide and zinc citrate, the zinc oxide: zinc citrate mass ratio being from 1.7:1 to 2.3:1, from 1.9:1 to 2.1:1, or about 2:1, and an effective amount of fluoride, wherein the fluoride salt is selected from stannous fluoride, sodium fluoride, potassium fluoride, sodium fluosilicate, ammonium fluorosilicate, amine fluoride, ammonium fluoride, titanium fluoride, hexafluorosulfate and combinations thereof. There is also provided a method of treating or preventing a disease or pathological condition of the oral cavity comprising contacting the oral surface of a patient in need thereof with the above composition.

EFFECT: use of a combination of zinc oxide and zinc citrate in the above ratio provides a high level of antibacterial activity, and, accordingly, effectiveness in reducing the biofilm in the oral cavity.
