FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: system includes a crankshaft angle sensor, an ignition misfire detection unit, an acquisition unit and a correction unit. The ignition misfire detection unit detects an ignition misfire state in the engine based on the ignition misfire index. The ignition misfire index is derived from the crankshaft rotation speed as a reference value corresponding to a predetermined engine speed order and has a correlation with the variation value of the angular speed of the crankshaft such that the value of the ignition misfire index varies in accordance with the variation value of the angular speed. The receiving unit receives a parameter related to the pressure at the end of the compression stroke in the engine cylinder. The correction unit corrects the ignition misfire index or the specified ignition misfire detection parameter, used in conjunction with the ignition misfire index during the ignition misfire detection, based on this parameter.
