FIELD: engine devices and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: methods and systems for monitoring an internal combustion engine are disclosed. In one example, an output signal of a temperature sensor is converted to a variable fuel pressure to determine whether fuel system components are operating as required, and air charge in a cylinder may be limited if the performance degradation is determined.
EFFECT: possibility for fuel pressure reserve reading and validation of readings of temperature or pressure sensors.
