SUBSTANCE: engine parameter is adjusted in response to intake air humidity estimated based on the concentration of one or more emissions at the engine outlet. The engine parameter is adjusted in response to air humidity estimated based on concentration of solid particles in exhaust gases. An embodiment of the method for the engine and the engine system are disclosed.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of operation of humidity sensors at high operating temperatures of the engine.
