FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: system comprises: a catheter designed to supply electric current to the inner wall of the renal artery to stimulate the nerve innervating the renal artery; a measuring device to measure physiological parameters associated with renal artery innervation; a computing device associated with measuring devices to calculate the physiological parameters; a device for identification of a parasympathetic or sympathetic nerve innervating the internal wall of the renal artery. To map the nerve innervating the renal artery wall, the catheter is injected into the artery so that the catheter tip is in contact with the site, located on the inner wall of the renal artery. Values of the physiological parameters are measured before electric current is applied. Stimulation is performed. At that, the electric current is controlled so that it has a value sufficient to detect changes in physiological parameters. The values of the physiological parameters are measured at a specific time interval and the site is identified as having a sympathetic nerve or site as having a parasympathetic nerve.
EFFECT: reliability of the study is increased by identifying sites with sympathetic or parasympathetic innervation.
