METHOD FOR DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSTICS OF HYDROCEPHALY IN NEWBORNS WITH EXTREMELY LOW BODY WEIGHT Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC G01N33/50

Abstract RU 2639138 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: dead infants with extremely low body weight (ELBW) (from 500 up to 1000 g) are subject to immunohistochemical study of ventricular germinative zone, cytoarchitectonic field N6 projection, definition of the MMP-9 expression index (EI) in glioblasts, in addition, the reelin expression index in the Cajal-Retzius neurons is calculated. At zero values of both indices, hereditary hydrocephaly is diagnosed, at the MMP-9 EI equal to 0.25 conv. units or more, in combination with the reelin EI less than 2 conv. units - post-inflammatory hydrocephaly is diagnosed, at the MMP-9 EI equal to 0.17 conv. units or less, in combination with the reelin EI equal to 2 conv. units or more - posthemorrhagic hydrocephaly is diagnosed. The proposed method is highly-informative, implemented by the immunohistochemical method and allows to differentiate hereditary (associated with Sylvian aqueduct development abnormalities), post-inflammatory and posthemorrhagic hydrocephaly in dead infants with ELBW at the sub-cellular level. It is a morphological method for objective control of the clinical diagnosis quality, hydrocephaly treatment and the final clinical diagnosis.

EFFECT: allows to optimize morphological hydrocephaly diagnosis depending on the etiological factor and considerably increases the quality of post-mortem diagnosis and epicurises.
