SUBSTANCE: device, configured to convert the input colour (L, x, y) of the pixel specified in a colour representation corresponding to the first dynamic brightness range, the output colour (L*, x, y) of the pixel specified in a colour representation corresponding to the second dynamic brightness range. The first and the second dynamic ranges vary in length. The device contains a modified form of tonal mapping, executed with the ability to determine, based on the input tonal mapping and quantitative parameter linearly associated with brightness (L) of the input colour, the regulated output brightness (L*, 309).
EFFECT: ability to perform colour mapping between the encodings of colours for the colour coverage with very different dynamic ranges of brightness.
