SUBSTANCE: biodegradable devices are described, such as implants for the controlled delivery of therapeutic agents, in particular large molecules such as proteins and antibodies. The devices contain a porous silicon carrier material impregnated with a therapeutic agent. An improved dosage form for controlled release of therapeutic agents can be used in vitro or in vivo to deliver the therapeutic agent during an estimated period of time, for example, several days, weeks or months.
EFFECT: device can be used to treat or prevent the patient's conditions, such as chronic diseases.
