FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: present group of inventions refers to medical equipment, namely to catheters for heating a patient with ultrasonic energy. Catheter comprises: a shaft with distal and proximal ends, wherein the distal end comprises at least one array of capacitive micromachined ultrasound transducers with an adjustable focus for controllable heating of a target zone; and a connector at the proximal end for supplying the one array of capacitive micromachined ultrasound transducers with electrical power and for controlling the adjustable focus. Transducer module is partially flexible, and the shaft comprises a mechanical control device for directing the distal end. Medical image formation system for collecting medical image data comprises a catheter interface for connection to the connector of the catheter, a processor for controlling the medical image formation system and the adjustable catheter focus, a memory that holds machine executable instructions for execution by the processor. Machine executable data carrier holds instructions for execution by the processor, where execution of the instructions causes the processor to: acquire the medical image data; register a location of the distal end of the catheter in the medical image data; generate focus control signals in accordance with the registered location of the distal end; and control the focus by deforming the transducer module and control the mechanic control device in the shaft to control the distal end.
EFFECT: use of these inventions enables to increase the accuracy and safety of ablation.
