FIELD: ecology.
SUBSTANCE: soil samples are placed in a column with an open top and a filter device at the bottom. Pollution of soil samples with chemical substances is carried out in an amount characterizing the technogenic impact. Filtrate that has passed through the contaminated soil layer is collected and the content of pollutant in the filtrate and soil is determined. For the study, 1-2 kg of a sample of soil dried to an air-dry state, which is placed in a plastic column with diameter of 10-20 centimetres and a height of 15-20 centimetres. The column is connected to a device for collecting the filtrate, which is a sealed plastic container with an inlet and a diameter equal to the diameter of the column. The device is assembled in combination with the filtrate collector vertically in a recess in the soil with a diameter equal to the diameter of the column and a depth of 40-60 cm, corresponding to the height of the column and the filtrate collector. The observation time is divided into several periods after which the column with the filtrate collector is removed from the recess and the filtrate is removed. After that, the column and the filtrate collector are again installed in the recess and the volume of the removed filtrate is determined. Concentration of the pollutant is determined. At the end of the observation, the column with the filtrate collector is taken out of the recess and the content of the pollutant in the soil and filtrate is analyzed. The amount of substance determined at different observation periods in the filtrate passed through the contaminated soil layer is summed and the degree of release of the pollutant is determined.
EFFECT: obtaining an assessment of the behaviour of pollutants in soils for improving the monitoring system for hazardous industrial facilities and developing measures for sanitary clearance of the territory with negative man-made impact.
