FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: catheter needle protection assembly contains a casing to receive a needle extending through it, having a distal end and a proximal end, and the casing is made with a possibility of joining at the distal end to the proximal end of the catheter sleeve and needle protection located in the casing. Needle protection contains a needle catcher, an elastic lever forcibly displacing the needle catcher to the protective position, a connecting foot and means for limitation of needle movement in the proximal direction relative to the needle protection assembly made with an ability to prevent the release of the needle protection assembly from the distal end of the needle, and the limiting means represents a thread or a protrusion. The needle catcher is made with an ability to move between the position of readiness, in which the needle catcher is held on one side of the needle stem, extending through the casing, and protected position in which the needle catcher blocks the tip of the needle inside the casing. The elastic lever is hingedly attached at the first end to the needle catcher and abuts against the inner surface of the needle protection casing at the second end. In the position of readiness, the connective foot attaches the casing to the proximal end of the catheter sleeve, and needle catcher movement from the readiness position to the protected position makes the connective foot disconnect the casing from the catheter sleeve. Catheter assembly contains the catheter sleeve with a chamber inside, a hollow tubular catheter with a distal end and a proximal end, a needle with a pointed tip, a flexible hollow extension tube with a distal end and a proximal end, a valve assembly located inside the catheter sleeve chamber and the above protection assembly. The catheter sleeve has a distal end and a proximal end. The catheter sleeve is adapted to be attached at its proximal end to a device for infusion or fluid removal from the chamber within the catheter sleeve. The catheter is attached at its proximal end to the distal end of the catheter sleeve. The inside of the catheter is open to the chamber inside the catheter sleeve. In the readiness position, the needle extends through the chamber in the catheter sleeve and through the catheter so that the pointed tip of the needle extends beyond the distal end of the catheter. The extension tube is attached at the distal end to the catheter sleeve between its proximal and distal ends. The extension tube at the distal end is open to the chamber inside the catheter sleeve. The extension tube is adapted to be attached at its proximal end to a device for fluid infusion into the chamber inside the catheter sleeve. The valve assembly contains the first valve element closing the distal end of the extension tube and opened under the influence of fluid pressure inside the extension tube, and the second valve element, preventing the flow of fluid through the chamber to or from the proximal end of the catheter sleeve, the second valve element is a two-way valve and executed with a possibility to open in order to ensure the fluid flow through the chamber in the catheter sleeve both in proximal and distal direction.
EFFECT: improved management of infusion and fluids removal to and from the patient through the catheter, staff protection against needle sticking.
