SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device containing a vacuum drum for rim paper to assemble smoking articles such as cigarettes. Device comprises of a vacuum drum for the rim paper and a cutting unit, wherein the vacuum drum for the rim paper is arranged to accommodate the web of wrapping paper, cutting unit is adapted to cut the web of the wrapping paper on the vacuum drum to form successive strips of wrapping paper for wrapping the smoking articles, and the vacuum drum is rotatable at a speed exceeding the speed, with which the web of wrapping paper is fed to the vacuum drum, so that spaces are formed between cut strips of tipping paper, peripheral surface of the vacuum drum includes suction holes, intended to attract the front portion of the wrapping paper web to the peripheral surface of the vacuum drum at a time between performing successive cutting operations, and the device comprises of a suction control component configured to deactivate the suction through the aforementioned suction holes when they pass past the front edge of the wrapping paper web.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention is an improvement of the device comprising a vacuum drum for the rim paper.
