SUBSTANCE: invention relates to predicting the life of a display device. Monitor 1 measures the brightness of the display screen using the optical sensor 19 and the temperature near the display screen using the temperature sensor 20. Terminal device 3 stores the measured brightnesses and temperatures so that the brightness and temperature are related to each other. Based on repeated measurements of brightness and temperature, the terminal device 3 predicts a trend of brightness changes, provided that the temperatures during the measurements are almost constant, and predicts the life of the monitor 1 based on the predicted trend of change. Terminal device 3 calculates a time when the brightness of the monitor 1 falls below the critical level, based on the predicted trend of brightness variation.

EFFECT: technical result is to improve the accuracy of predicting the life of display device while reducing the dependence of the characteristic values on temperature changes.
