FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for obtaining 2-ethyl-3,5-dimethylpyridine which consists in the reaction of propionaldehyde and ammonia in the presence of Y-mmm zeolite granulated without binders in H form, at a molar ratio of propionaldehyde: ammonia equal to 1:1.5–3, at a temperature of 150–350 °C, atmospheric pressure and volumetric feed rate (w) equal to 3–10 h-1.
EFFECT: use of this method makes it possible to obtain 2-ethyl-3,5-dimethylpyridine with high yield using fewer steps without solvent at atmospheric pressure.
