FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing pyridine and methylpyridines, which comprises reacting ethanol, formaldehyde and ammonia in presence of 100 % water vapor subjected to high-temperature treatment in medium at 550 °C for 1–3 h of zeolite H-Beta, at 200–400 °C and bulk feed rate (w) equal to 2–10 hours-1, ethanol: formaldehyde: ammonia molar ratio is 1.0:0.8:1.5.
EFFECT: technical result is a method of producing a pyridine fraction with high content of picolines and lutidine and low content of "heavy" compounds in the reaction products, which are the cause of coke formation and fast deactivation of the catalyst.
