FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to powder metallurgy, in particular, production of spherical powders of tungsten monocarbide which is the main component of metal ceramic carbide hard alloys used for production of tools, drill bits, for alloying steels, for surfacing wear-resistant coatings on parts working under conditions of intensive wear, etc. The method includes melting of initial material, spraying the melt with formation of spherical powder, tungsten monocarbide grit is used as a starting material, melting and spraying of the starting material is carried out by continuous feeding of the grit into a rotating crucible of a centrifugal spraying device under nitrogen atmosphere and melting thereof by plasma arc, after that the produced powder is annealed at a temperature from 1200-1400°C for a period of time required for disintegration of W2C, with subsequent cooling in furnace.
EFFECT: production of spherical powder of tungsten monocarbide with its high content in finished product.
