SUBSTANCE: invention relates to power engineering and is intended for diagnosing the state and spatial position of the following elements: overhead protection cable, power cables, support structure elements, suspension clamp and anchor fasteners of overhead protection cable, insulator fasteners, insulator strings, vibration dampers and other equipment. Device for the diagnosis of overhead power lines includes a helicopter-type aircraft, a control system, control blocks of overhead power lines and a power supply, a moving means, located in the body and consisting of an engine connected to the running rollers, and a pressure roller with a drive, which serves to press the cable being examined to the running rollers, and guides that facilitate the alignment of the running rollers with the cable being examined. Axle in the middle of the body is installed. It passes through the walls of the body and through the fork that encloses the body. In the upper part of the fork the guides and the aircraft are fixed.

EFFECT: when the cable being examined is deviated from the horizontal by plus or minus 30 degrees, the center of gravity of the entire device does not deviate from its stable vertical position.
