SUBSTANCE: device for controlling the sharpness of a cutting knife edge comprises a light source for illuminating the knife and a camera for obtaining knife shots. The light source is configured to project onto the knife at least one reference line intersecting the cutting knife edge in the field of view of the camera. Based on the reference line shape in a shot taken by the camera, it is possible to determine the cutting edge sharpness.
EFFECT: safe and reliable assessment of the cutting edge sharpness.
