SUBSTANCE: image decoding method for decoding each block from the image blocks is proposed. The method contains the stage at which a bi-predictive candidate is extracted for the current block motion vectors that must be decoded, from the first motion vector of the first block, included in the first image. The first image differs from the image, which includes a current block. Further, according to the method, the extracted bi-predictive candidate is added to the list of candidates, and one bi-predictive candidate is chosen, which includes the second motion vector and the third motion vector from the list of candidates. The current block is decoded using the second motion vector and the third motion vector, as well as the second reference image and the third reference image of the current block. The second reference image and the third reference image correspond respectively to the second motion vector and the third motion vector.
