SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to video encoding/decoding equipment. Method for encoding at least one image is proposed. Method comprises the stages of segmenting an image into a plurality of blocks, grouping the blocks into a predetermined number of block subsets. Method further comprises the stage of encoding the current block of the above subset of blocks with the use of the entropy encoding unit. In this case, when the current block is the first block in the encoding order of the subset that is not the first subset of the image in the encoding order, encoding comprises: determining the probability of occurrence of a symbol for the current block, the probabilities being those determined by encoding of a predetermined block from at least one other subset.

EFFECT: technical result is high efficiency of encoding/decoding images.
