FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ultra high strength wrought copper-nickel-tin alloys. Method of thermal stress treatment of the wrought spinodal copper-nickel-tin alloy comprises performing a first mechanical cold working step on the alloy to a percentage of cold working (%CW) of about 50 % to about 75 % and heat treating the alloy at 740 °F to 850 °F for a period of between about 3 minutes and about 14 minutes to produce the desired offset yield strength of at least 175 ksi.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at developing alloys with a high offset yield strength.
