FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to spinodal alloys of copper-nickel-tin and methods of their production. Alloy copper-nickel-tin, containing 8–20 wt. % nickel and 5–11 wt. % tin, is obtained by injection molding and has at least 40 % plasticity and 0.2 % conditional yield point of at least 25 ksi. Method of producing high-strength copper-nickel-tin alloy involves preparation of molten mixture of copper, nickel and tin, casting under pressure with formation of casting and thermal treatment of casting by heating at temperature from approximately 1500 °F to about 1625 °F for a period of time from about 4 hours to about 24 hours.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at increasing homogeneity and strength of spinodal copper-nickel-tin alloys.
