FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of copper-nickel-tin spinodal alloys and can be used for the manufacture of symmetric products used in various industries, in particular in drilling and exploration for oil and gas. This method includes casting a copper-nickel-tin alloy containing, in wt.%: from 5 to 20 nickel, from 5 to 10 tin, not more than 0.3 of at least one element selected from the group consisting of zirconium, iron and magnesium, the rest is copper, homogenizing the alloy, hot working the alloy with pressure to obtain a reduction rate of at least 5:1, heat treatment in solid solution at a temperature from 798.9 to 898.9 °C, cold working until a reduction in the cross-sectional area in the alloy from about 15 % to about 80 %, and spinodal hardening of the alloy, wherein the method allows to obtain an alloy with a conditional yield strength of at least 758 MPa, impact strength of at least 16.3 N⋅m, tensile strength of at least 827 MPa and a minimum elongation of 20 %.

EFFECT: invention is directed to obtaining an alloy with a combination of high strength and ductility.
