FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a coating composition comprising vinyl acrylic copolymer latex, wherein said copolymer latex is characterised by a wetting contact angle for water, which is 60° or more, on the surface of the dried latex film, wherein said copolymer latex, in addition, is characterised by a specific permeability of water vapour of 0.5 mg/cm2/mm/24 hours. Invention also relates to a copolymer latex and to a method for improving the ability of a coating to withstand the action of a high humidity environment, including the addition of vinyl acrylic copolymer latex to the coating composition.
EFFECT: technical result is providing high repulsion of water vapour and high water vapour permeability by coatings, including vinyl acrylic copolymer latex.
