FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of industrial production of unsaturated hydrocarbons with a predetermined structure, namely a process for the preparation of vinylidene olefins. Process involves the dimerization of alpha-olefins, such as hexene-1, octene-1, decene-1, in the presence of the reaction product of zirconocene-dichlorides with organic-aluminum compounds. As zirconocene-dichlorides, (C5H5)2ZrCl2 or zirconocene dichloride having the general formula [X(C5H4)2]ZrCl2, where X is a bridging group linking the cyclopentadienyl rings and having a number of units of two to three and is characterized by the dihedral angle between cyclopentadienyl rings α = 51–53.5°. Interaction with organic-aluminum compounds is carried out first with triisobutylaluminum, and then with methylalumoxane.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the yield of dimers with the formation of easily separated by-products in an amount of no more than 7 %, when carrying out the process in the absence of additional solvents and applying the catalytic system in small amounts at a moderate reaction time.
