FIELD: chemical industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of industrial production of branched hydrocarbons with a homogeneous molecular structure, which are decene-1 oligomers. The invention also relates to a catalyst and its application for the oligomerization of decene-1. The catalyst includes a compound of general formula I characterized by the presence of two indeno[1,2-b]indole fragments connected by a dimethylene bridge, characterized by the presence of a substituent R1 at position 2 and a substituent R2 at position 3 of one of the indeno[1,2-b]indole fragments, where R2 is hydrogen when R1 is an alkyl substituent, or R1 is hydrogen when R2 is an alkyl substituent. The advantage of this group of inventions is to increase the conversion of decene-1 and to increase the yield of oligomers in the process of oligomerization of decene-1.

EFFECT: use of the proposed catalyst at the stage of obtaining decene-1 oligomers provides a significant improvement in the characteristics of the base of poly-alpha-olefin oils.
