SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of licensing of paid (subscription) software of computer facilities. Method for licensing software is disclosed by means of hardware, which uses asymmetric cryptography for the formation of electronic signature (ES) on licenses, based on the delivery of not the licenses themselves – the software activation codes, but parts of the data for their generation – keys, in which when generating licenses, equipment identifiers (EI) are used – unique data of the computers, which are intended for use of the licensed software, characterized in that the set of two types of mobile USB devices is used, which are interacting, being jointly connected to the license seller computer, according to the master-slave (Master-Slave – M-S) principle – of the mobile license carriers (MLC), which are the specialized media, containing processors that control access to the data stored in them, the first type of which (MLC-M) on the side of the seller of licenses once – for each type of licensed software – enter the key necessary for the formation of ESs on the relevant licenses and additional data for their generation, and in the second type (MLC-S) from MLC-M the above license keys and additional data are transferred in order to generate the required number of licenses, and MLC-M is issued in a single copy and assigned to the license seller, and MLC-S is issued in the amount that is equal to the number of buyers of licenses, and is physically supplied the latter.
EFFECT: technical result is the creation of the licensing method for the reliability of countering the pirated use of licensed software that is not inferior to the methods based on the use of hardware protection keys (HPK), and at the same time for the efficiency and ease of use, in particular, when it is necessary to license multiple copies of the software for one collective user, this method is not inferior to the methods based on the use of physical license servers (FLS).
