SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely neurology. Conduct an ultrasonography of the quadriceps muscle in the lower third of the thigh before extension and at the time of extension of the limb as well as in the upper third of the thigh at the time of abduction and adduction of the limb. When visualizing on the screen the minimal movements of the three heads of the muscle with respect to the straight head in the lower third and (or) in the presence of movements of the lateral head in relation to the straight head in the upper third of the thigh, the paresis of the quadriceps muscle of the thigh is diagnosed. In the absence of head movements in the upper and lower third of the thigh, paralysis of the quadriceps muscle of thigh is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to increase the reliability of differential diagnosis, which is achieved by detecting the movements of the three heads of the quadriceps muscle with respect to its straight head.
