SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. Image decoding device comprises a decoding unit with a variable word length to obtain compressed data, coding mode and index information, each of which is connected with a coding unit; motion-compensated prediction part for generation of a prediction image using a motion vector selected from one or more selectable motion vectors, and selecting the motion vector indicated by the index information; decoded image generating unit by combining a difference image and a prediction image, wherein the motion-compensated prediction part selects a spatial motion vector, which is obtained from a decoded block located near the encoding block, or a temporal motion vector, which is obtained from the decoded picture, which can be referred to by the coding unit according to the index information.
EFFECT: technical result is to reduce the amount of code.
