FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for cumene production. Method includes: (a) contacting C3 a feed stream with an aromatic stream comprising benzene under alkylation conditions providing an alkylation product stream comprising at least 1.0% by weight of cumene, based on the total weight of the alkylation product stream; (b) feeding from 1 to 99% by weight of said alkylation product stream and at least one C3 alkylating agent to the treatment zone under processing conditions to produce a treated raw material, said treatment zone comprising clay as a sorbent; besides the said C3 the feed stream comprises at least a portion of said treated feedstock, the said C3 alkylating agent includes one or more of the following compounds: propylene or an oxygen-containing propyl compound, the said oxygen-containing propyl compound includes one or more of the listed compounds: isopropyl alcohol or n-propyl alcohol.
EFFECT: method allows to reliably remove contaminants from the feed stream based on C3, provides a selective reduction of the contaminant content without excessive conversion of oxygen-containing propyl compounds into undesirable by-products.
