FIELD: internal combustion engines.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in control systems of internal combustion engines (ICE). There are proposed ways to operate the engine to remove surplus fuel from a flooded engine, in which, if it is found that the engine is flooded with fuel, automatically shut off the fuel supply to the engine at the same time as the intake air throttle opening is enlarged and the engine crankshaft is cranked for a certain duration, on par with the regulation of the air-fuel ratio in the engine, to accelerate the purging of the engine cylinders from surplus fuel.

EFFECT: methods allow to automatically remove excess fuel from the engine, facilitating the early start of the engine.
