SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines. Engine system (100) comprises engine (10), exhaust particulate filter (72) positioned in exhaust bypass passage (82) downstream of engine (10), exhaust diverter valve (80) and controller (12). Exhaust diverter valve (80) is positioned in exhaust main passage (48) upstream of exhaust bypass passage (82). Controller (12) comprises instructions for first, second and third modes. During the first mode, comprising an engine temperature being less than a threshold engine temperature, positioning exhaust diverter valve (80) to direct engine exhaust gas from exhaust main passage (48) to the exhaust bypass passage (82). During the second mode, the position of exhaust diverter valve (80) is adjusted to direct engine exhaust gas to bypass exhaust bypass passage (82). In the second mode, engine temperature is greater than or equal to the threshold engine temperature and fuel is combusted in the engine. During the third mode, the position of exhaust diverter valve (80) is adjusted to direct engine exhaust gas to exhaust bypass passage (82) and the exhaust particulate filter (72). Third mode comprises crankshaft (40) acceleration being less than a threshold crankshaft acceleration while the engine temperature is greater than the threshold engine temperature.
EFFECT: technical result is to provide reliable recovery of the particulate filter during engine shutdown.
