FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines. Method of engine operation includes deactivation of group (18) of cylinders of multicylinder engine (10) selected for EGR (IEGR) in response to existence of condition of forthcoming engine shutdown (10) and to deactivation of non-IEGR group (17) of cylinders for blowing EGR from intake system. Monitoring of the EGR volume after deactivation. Deactivation of non-IEGR group (17) of cylinders and disconnection of engine (10) in response to falling of controlled volume of EGR below threshold value. Disclosed are engine operating method embodiments.
EFFECT: technical result consists in reliable and accurate recurrence of engine starts with system selected for EGR.
