FIELD: measurement; testing.
SUBSTANCE: to collect data on sensor and mating shafts that form a contact zone, first and second plurality of sensors are used. Each sensor of the first plurality has a corresponding sensor in the second plurality, which is connected to the same axial location on the sensor shaft, but is spaced apart from it in a circumferential direction. Sensors are located in the axially distributed locations of the sensor shaft and generate a first or second corresponding signal upon entering the contact zone. After receiving the generated signal, it is determined which sensor generated the received signal, and the association of said sensor to one of the pluralities.
EFFECT: based on the angular position of the mating shaft, it is determined which tracking segment associated with the mating shaft enters the area of the contact zone simultaneously with the signal in order to store the signal using a specific one tracking segment and the determined association.
